Irony

So my wife and I are expecting a new addition to our family this summer! We are very excited. We decided to sign up for Healthy Families which is a state run program offered to provide health care to unborn children through the pregnancy and through their first birthday. What's ironic is not my stance on government provided health care and us taking advantage of this program. It's not ironic because We PAY our taxes. We are AMERICAN citizens, so we are intitled to use the programs that we have been funding for many years now. Infact, we actually still choose to pay for this program out of pocket. The irony is that the only way that we qualify for this is because the State of California recognizes the unborn child as an additional family member from the point of conception. This is the same state that will let women execute these unborn children with my tax dollars. The same state that will use live fetus' for stem cell research. Ok, maybe it's not so much ironic as it is hypocrytical.

Here's a website that goes through the history of the Abortion Laws in the State of California. My favorite is the one from July 8th, 1994 that states "Governor signs Budget Act with full funding for abortion services and no restrictive budget language.".
